Waddeneiland Texel
A walk through the woods begins at our doorstep.
Enjoyment of the peace and natural beauty which the island offers begins at the doorstep. A cycle path runs adjacent to our house and this leads you through Texel's most scenic places. The island offers approximately 140 km of cycle path as well as numerous footpaths through dunes, woods, heath and nature reserves.
Texel is the Netherland's largest Wadden island and has something for everyone. It is easy to reach: just a 20 minute boat ride from Den Helder on the mainland.
Texel is well known for it's beautiful long stretches of beach, the unique Wadden region, bird breeding places and carefully protected nature reserves such as De Slufter, De Muy and De Geul. And in addition to all this we have a wide variety of art and culture and diverse museums such as Ecomare with it's bird and seal sanctuary.
At the harbour in Oudeschild, one of the characteristic villages on the island, you can take a trip on a fishing boat or to see the seals.
